Has anyone out there done any research? I have used up the better part of the afternoon researching and seem to be more confused than when I started. Maybe just Friday. Concerns... Vent roof or not... R-Value?... Installation requirements?... Mechanical whole house ventillation required?...Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Check the ICC ES reports for the foam products, most of them are from R-3 to R-3.8 per inch and limited to 5.5 inches thickness. Virtually all foam has to be covered with a thermal barrier, regardless of what thier sales brochure tries to tell you. I don't believe in the unvented "conditioned" attic system that most foam companies are pushing now. We have been battling with foam manufacturers and contractors for about 2 years now, too much information to post here. PM me and I will send you some of the letters that we have been sending and recieving.
