Tell me how certian Individuals can do inspections and run a department when the are only Certified Building Officials. I have run into this in at least one NEPA community. This person is doing all the REsidential inspections with only a 10 certification.[/code][/b]

Then your really going to be surprised that to be an inspector you do not need any background in building, designing, or engineering either! Flippin' burgers is good enough!!! Twisted Evil

In the great wisdom or is that we's-dum? of the state they allowed people to be registered as inspectors. #16 residential or #17 commercial. Now the real magic here is that prior to the UCC less than 50% of the municipalities had building codes and only a few did commercial permitting and inspections. This was the primary function of L&I. Here comes the weird stuff....85% of the "inspectors" registered are #17 commercial. Is it fantasy, fabrication, misunderstanding the question or just plain lying? Any way you shake it you have people doing plan review and inspections that are not qualified. Someday this will come back to bite the State on it's ass.

Now that April 9th, 2007 is right around the corner everyone is scrambling to get their certifications.

The Thompson Prometric (Sylvan Site) in Allentown is already booked solid through April 07. The Prometric Site in Conshohocken may have a few openings.

A word to the wise, if you need your certs, schedule your tests now!

The website for Prometric is: http://www.prometric.com/NCPCCI/default.htm
or their toll free # is 1-800-864-5309

For Prommisor you can go to the ICC Website or call their
toll free # 1-800-275-8301

(Please Note: all the testing agencies are now referencing the 2006 I Codes)

If you have all your Commercial Certs, the state will recognize them as satisfactory certificaitons to continue residential inspections and residential plan review.
