|
|
Several questions in the last few days - hot topic!
What boilers and unfired pressure vessels are exempt from the Boiler & Unfired Pressure Law?
The two most "relevant" taken directly from the Act are:
1. Those installed in one and two family dwellings
2. Those installed in multi-family structures with 4 or less dwelling units.
3. Those installed in agricultural buildings unless installed in "sales" areas.
There is no mention of a minimum threshold of Btu's or input/output ratings, but a number of people have talked about 400,000 Btu's as the minimum threshold for compliance...and supposedly everything less than that is exempt.....
Can anyone shed light on this? |

| I believe on commercial water heaters the rule is 199,999 BTU is a water heater and anything 200,000 or more is an ASME boiler for code purposes. |

| I beleive L & I has reponsibility for all pressure vessels. See act 45 section 403.48(a). I have been trying to research this also. Any comments with applicable UCC code sections would be appreciated. |

| Only Commercial boilers! Section 403.48 only applies to commercial boilers. |
